A Project Begins

Hi, my name is Scott and I'm an avid cast recording collector. I'm gay & an actor on the west coast. I've only been to New York once. Timing, and more importantly, finances, kept me away from going more often. I try to see as many of the tours that come through the bay area, but miss many shows. I can, however, still live vicariously through a cast recording.

Back in the day, I can remember buying a new cast recording and slipping the CD into my car stereo and listening to it, getting to know it as I drove around. Getting home and starting where I stopped in the car. I read linear notes, often with lyrics if you were lucky, and learning all about the shows. That was my main connection to Broadway.

That was all before my love of podcasts began. Now, I spend most of the time in the car listening to various podcasts. I even have my own podcast, The Satyrsphere.

Yet, I still continued to buy cast recordings, but often enough, never settling back to listen to them. I rarely go to a store to buy a physical CD anymore. Sure, I have my Amazon Wish List and get some that way. But more often then not, it's procured digitally now and something about lacking an actual physical copy makes it not quite as momentous anymore.

So, here's the deal.

I''m going to listen to a cast recording every day for 30 days and catch up on what I've been missing. I'm leaving my reviews and musings on it here. Links to websites for more information and where you can buy them too if you like what you see.
